You do not need a computer to keep customers happy. Hushdesk works in the browser on phones and tablets, and the inbox rearranges itself to fit the screen.
Before you start
- Who can do this: everyone.
- Plan: all plans.
- What you need: a modern mobile browser and your sign-in details. A passkey on your phone makes signing in quick.
How the layout changes
| Screen width | What you see |
|---|---|
| Under 768 px (phones) | One pane at a time: the ticket list, or the open ticket |
| 768 to 1279 px (tablets, small laptops) | The list and the ticket side by side; views and customer details slide in as drawers |
| 1280 px and wider | Views, list, ticket and customer details all side by side |
Step by step
- Open your Hushdesk address in the phone's browser and sign in.
- Tap a ticket in the list to open it. The list hides so the ticket fills the screen.
- Read the conversation and type your reply in the reply box at the bottom.
- Tap the back arrow at the top left to return to the list.
- To switch views, open the menu and pick a view such as Unassigned or Assigned to you. Close it with Close views.
- To see the customer and their orders, open More actions (the ⋯ button in the ticket header) and choose Customer & orders. Close it with Close customer panel.
What happens next
Replies, notes, tags and status changes save exactly as on a computer. New chat messages appear live, so you can hold a chat conversation from your phone.
Settings, Workflows and the other areas work on phones too. Their section menu becomes a drawer you open with the menu button at the top. Buttons and menus grow to a comfortable touch size on touch screens, so you are less likely to tap the wrong thing.
Tips
- Add Hushdesk to your home screen from the browser's share menu for one-tap access.
- Sign in with a passkey (Face ID or fingerprint) so you do not type a password on a small keyboard. See Add a passkey.
- On the narrowest screens, Priority and Snooze move from the header into the More actions menu to save space.
- Use the light or dark mode toggle at the bottom of the menu if you work at night.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Hushdesk app for iPhone or Android?
Not at the moment. Hushdesk runs in your phone's browser, such as Safari or Chrome. The inbox adapts to small screens, showing one pane at a time with large touch targets, so you can read and answer tickets without installing anything.
How do I get back to the ticket list on my phone?
Tap the back arrow at the top left of the open ticket, labelled Back to tickets for screen readers. On phones the inbox shows either the list or one ticket, never both, so the back arrow always returns you to the list.
Where are the views and customer details on a small screen?
They slide in as drawers. Open the views drawer with the menu button to switch between views such as Unassigned or Assigned to you. Open More actions in the ticket header and choose Customer & orders to see the customer, their orders and ticket fields.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts on a tablet?
Yes, if the tablet has a keyboard attached. Shortcuts such as j and k to move between tickets work the same as on a computer. Without a keyboard, use the previous and next arrows in the ticket header.
Does Hushdesk work on a tablet in landscape?
Yes. Between about 768 and 1279 pixels wide, the inbox shows the ticket list and the open ticket side by side. The views and the customer panel slide in as drawers. From 1280 pixels everything sits side by side.
