After sign-up we send a 6-digit code and a link to your work email. Confirming the address proves it is yours. It switches on the parts of Hushdesk that depend on a real address, such as joining a team, starting new tickets and adding passkeys.

Before you start

  • Who can do this: the person who owns the account.
  • What you need: access to the mailbox you signed up with.
  • Time: under a minute. The code expires after 15 minutes.

Step by step

  1. Open the email with the subject Confirm your email.
  2. Copy the 6-digit code, or press the button in the email to use the link instead.
  3. On the Welcome page, type the code into 6-digit code under Confirm your email.
  4. Press Confirm my email.
  5. If the code has expired, press Send a new code and use the newest email.

You can also confirm later. The Home checklist keeps a Confirm your email item that links to your account page until it is done.

What happens next

The card changes to Email confirmed. Thank you! From then on:

  • pending invites sent to that address are accepted, so you appear in those workspaces;
  • you can start new tickets from the inbox;
  • you can turn on two-step sign-in and add passkeys under Security and sign-in;
  • you can create another workspace from the account menu.

Tips

  • The code and the link do the same job. Use whichever is easier on your device.
  • Each new code replaces the previous one. Always use the most recent email.
  • If you change your sign-in email later, the new address must be confirmed in the same way. See Change your sign-in email.

Troubleshooting

"Enter the 6-digit code from the email"

The box is empty or has fewer than six digits. Type all six digits; spaces are ignored.

"That code isn’t right."

One digit is wrong, or you typed a code from an older email. Check the newest email and try again.

"That code has expired. Send a new one."

More than 15 minutes have passed, or the code was already used. Press Send a new code.

"Too many wrong codes. Send a new one."

After five wrong tries the code stops working. Press Send a new code and type the new one carefully.

Links work once and for 15 minutes. Sign in, then send a fresh code from the Welcome page or your account.

"Email sign-in isn’t set up on this server yet. Use your password or a passkey."

This Hushdesk server cannot send email yet. Your account still works with your password. Ask the server owner to connect email sending.

"We couldn’t send the email just now. Try again in a minute."

The email provider did not accept the message. Wait a minute and press Send a new code again.

"Confirm your email address first (Your account), then start new tickets."

You tried to start a ticket before confirming. Confirm the address, then try again.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to confirm my email in Hushdesk?

Confirming proves the address is yours. Until you do, invites to other workspaces wait, you cannot start new tickets, and you cannot add a passkey, two-step sign-in or a new workspace. It also lets us reach you about your account.

How long does the email confirmation code last?

Fifteen minutes. The code and the link in the same email work once and then expire. If the time runs out, press Send a new code on the Welcome page and use the newest email, because every new code replaces the one before it and older codes stop working.

I did not get the confirmation email. What should I check?

Look in your spam or promotions folder first, then make sure the address on your account is spelled correctly. Wait a minute and press Send a new code. If the server cannot send email yet, you will see a message saying so instead.

Can I confirm my email from my phone?

Yes. Open the link in the email on any device. If you open it in a browser where you are already signed in as yourself, it simply confirms the address. The code works too if you would rather type it on the computer.

What happens if someone else signed up with my email address?

Opening the confirmation link proves you own the mailbox. If the account was never confirmed, Hushdesk clears the password, passkeys, authenticator app and sessions the other person set, so you take over a clean account. You can then set your own password or passkey from Security and sign-in.
