Create and switch workspaces

Run another store or brand from the same login. Create a new workspace with its own inbox, settings and plan, then switch between them from the account menu.

A workspace is one complete helpdesk: inbox, customers, settings, team and plan. If you run more than one store or brand, you can create a workspace for each and move between them without signing out.

Before you start

  • Who can do this: anyone with a confirmed email address.
  • Plan: each new workspace starts on Free. Plan limits apply per workspace.
  • Limit: you can own up to ten workspaces.
  • Time: under a minute.

Step by step

  1. Open the account menu with your name at the bottom of the left-hand menu.
  2. Under Workspaces, choose New workspace. You can also use Create another workspace on the Welcome page.
  3. Type the Store or team name.
  4. Press Create workspace.

To switch, open the account menu again and pick another workspace under Workspaces.

What happens next

You land in the new workspace straight away, as its owner. It is empty: no channels, no team and no rules yet. Work through the first-week checklist for it in the same way.

Your other workspaces are unchanged. Hushdesk remembers the last workspace you used and opens it next time you sign in.

One workspace or several?

Situation Suggestion
One store, one brand One workspace
Two stores with different teams or customers One workspace per store
Several Shopify stores answered by one team One workspace with every store connected (Growth and Scale)
An agency answering for clients One workspace per client, invited by the client

Tips

  • Give each workspace the name customers know, because it becomes the brand name on emails and chat.
  • Invite teammates separately in each workspace. Their role can differ from one workspace to the next.
  • Connect each store's own support email and Shopify store to its own workspace. A Shopify store can only be connected to one workspace at a time.

Troubleshooting

"Confirm your email first (Your account → Profile)"

Confirm your address with the 6-digit code, then try again. See Confirm your email address.

"Name the store or team"

The name is empty. Type a name.

"Keep the name under 80 characters"

Shorten the name.

"You already own 10 workspaces. Contact support to add more."

You reached the limit for one account. Contact support.

"Too many tries. Wait a minute and try again."

Several workspaces were created in a short time. Wait a minute.

"Exit “view as” first"

Support is viewing your workspace read-only. Leave view-as mode before creating a workspace.

"You’re not a member of that workspace"

The workspace you tried to switch to no longer includes you. Ask its owner to invite you again.

Frequently asked questions

What is a workspace in Hushdesk?

A workspace is one helpdesk with its own inbox, customers, settings, team and plan. Most stores need one. Agencies, and owners with more than one store or brand, can create a workspace for each and switch between them with the same login.

How many workspaces can I create?

You can own up to ten workspaces with one account. If you need more, for example because you run an agency with many clients, contact support. The limit only counts workspaces you own, so there is no limit on how many workspaces other people invite you to.

Does a new workspace cost extra?

Every new workspace starts on the Free plan, so creating one costs nothing. Plans and limits apply per workspace, which means you choose a plan for each store separately and only pay for the ones that need more conversations or AI resolutions than Free includes.

Can I move tickets from one workspace to another?

No. Workspaces are kept fully separate, including customers, tickets, rules, macros and settings, and nothing is shared between them. Pick the right workspace before you connect an email address, chat widget or Shopify store, so tickets land in the right place from the start.

Why can I not create a new workspace?

You need to confirm your email address first. You also cannot create one while support is viewing your workspace in view-as mode, and you can only own ten. The message under the name field says which rule applies.
