Change your sign-in email

Move your Hushdesk account to a new email address. Confirm it with a 6-digit code sent to the new address; your old address is told about the change.

Your sign-in email is how you get into Hushdesk and where we send account emails. You can move it to a new address at any time; the new address is confirmed before it takes over.

Before you start

  • Who can do this: everyone, for their own account.
  • Plan: all plans.
  • What you need: access to the new mailbox, and your password if you have one (otherwise a sign-in within the last 15 minutes).
  • Time: a couple of minutes.

Step by step

  1. Open the account menu and choose Security and sign-in.
  2. Under Email, you see "You sign in and get account emails at" your address, and whether it is Confirmed.
  3. Press Change email.
  4. Type the New email and Your password, then press Send a code.
  5. Open the email sent to the new address ("Confirm your new Hushdesk email") and copy the 6-digit code.
  6. Type it in Code and press Confirm new email.

What happens next

A message confirms "You now sign in with" your new address. Then:

  • your new address is marked as confirmed;
  • every other device is signed out;
  • your old address receives an email saying your sign-in email changed;
  • the change is written to your workspaces' audit log.

Your display name, workspaces, roles and history stay exactly as they were.

Sign-in email versus support email

Address What it is Where to change it
Sign-in email Your personal login Security and sign-in
Support email Where customers write Settings > Email (per brand)

Tips

  • Change your sign-in email before you lose access to the old mailbox, for example before leaving a job address.
  • After changing it, check Signed-in devices; only the current device should remain.
  • Teammates find you by name, so they do not need to do anything.

Troubleshooting

"That’s already your email"

You typed your current address.

"Your password isn’t right"

Check your password and try again.

"Another account already uses that email"

Pick a different address.

"That code isn’t right"

Use the code from the newest email to the new address.

"That code has expired. Start again."

Codes last 15 minutes. Press Change email again.

"Too many wrong codes. Start again."

Start the change again.

"For your security, sign out and sign in again (in the last 15 minutes) to do this."

You have no password, so a recent sign-in is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the email I sign in with?

Open Security and sign-in, press Change email, type the new address and your password, then press Send a code. Type the 6-digit code from the email sent to the new address and press Confirm new email. A message confirms you now sign in with the new address.

Will my old email address be notified?

Yes. After the change, Hushdesk emails your old address to say your sign-in email changed and which address you now use, with a reminder to contact support straight away if you did not make the change. Your old address stops receiving sign-in links.

What happens to my other devices after an email change?

They are signed out, so every other device has to sign in again with the new address. The device you made the change on stays signed in. This protects your account if the change was not made by you.

Does changing my email change my support address?

No. Your sign-in email belongs to your personal account. The support address customers write to is set separately, for each brand, under Settings, Email. Change it there if your store's support address is moving.

Can I use an email address that another account already uses?

No. Each email address belongs to one Hushdesk account. If the address is taken, you see Another account already uses that email. Sign in to that account instead, or use a different address for this one.
