Change your password from Security and sign-in. If you sign in with email links or passkeys and have no password, you can set one there too.
Before you start
- Who can do this: everyone, for their own account.
- Plan: all plans.
- What you need: your current password, or, if you have none, a sign-in within the last 15 minutes.
- Time: a minute.
Step by step
- Open the account menu and choose Security and sign-in.
- Find Password.
- If you have a password, press Change password, type your Current password and a New password.
- If you have none ("You sign in with email links or a passkey. Add a password if you like typing one."), press Set a password, type a New password and press Set password.
- The hint reminds you: "At least 10 characters. A short phrase works well."
- Save. A message confirms Password changed. Other devices were signed out. or Password set.
What happens next
"Changing it signs you out everywhere else." Your current device stays signed in. The change is written to your workspaces' audit log ("Every change here is written to your workspaces’ audit log.").
Password rules
| Rule | Message if broken |

Tips
- Use a password manager, or a phrase of three or four unrelated words.
- Add a passkey too; it is faster and cannot be phished. See Add a passkey.
- Turn on two-step sign-in for extra protection. See Set up two-step sign-in.
- If you think someone knows your password, change it and check Signed-in devices.
Troubleshooting

"For your security, sign out and sign in again (in the last 15 minutes) to do this."
You have no password yet and your sign-in is older than 15 minutes. Sign in again and set it straight away.
"Too many attempts. Wait a minute, then try again."
Wait a minute before trying again.
Frequently asked questions
What are the password rules in Hushdesk?
At least 10 characters and at most 200. It cannot be one character repeated, one of the most common breached passwords, or contain the part of your email before the @. A short phrase of unrelated words is the easiest way to meet the rules and remember it.
What happens to my other devices when I change my password?
They are signed out. Changing your password ends every other session, so anyone who knew the old password loses access immediately. The device you are using stays signed in, and the message confirms Password changed, other devices were signed out.
Do I need a password if I use passkeys?
No. You can sign in with passkeys and email links only. The Password section then says you sign in with email links or a passkey and suggests adding a password if you like typing one. A password is still handy as a backup if you lose your devices.
Why does setting a password ask me to sign in again?
If your account has no password yet, there is no old password to check, so Hushdesk asks for a recent sign-in instead, within the last 15 minutes. That stops someone who found an open session from adding their own password. Sign out, sign in again and set it straight away.
Can an admin change my password for me?
No. Passwords are personal and only you can set or change yours. Workspace admins can deactivate your access to their workspace, and Hushdesk support can help if you are locked out, but nobody else chooses your password.
