You can change plan at any time from Settings. Upgrades go through Stripe Checkout, so nothing is ever charged without you entering payment details. Downgrades ask you to confirm first.

Before you start

  • Who can do this: owners and admins.
  • What you need: a card for paid plans.
  • Good to know: each workspace has its own plan. Change it inside the workspace you mean.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings and choose Plan and billing.
  2. Under Plans, choose Monthly or Yearly · 2 months free.
  3. On the plan you want:
    • for a bigger plan, press Upgrade to Growth (or the plan's name);
    • for a smaller plan, press Move to Starter, read "Smaller limits apply from now. Click again to confirm.", then press Confirm: move to Starter.
  4. If Stripe Checkout opens, enter your card and any promotion code, then pay.
  5. Back in Hushdesk, the page says "Payment received. Your new plan is active as soon as Stripe confirms it, usually within seconds."

What happens next

Situation What Hushdesk does
Starting a paid plan Opens Stripe Checkout; the plan changes once Stripe confirms the payment
Already paying by card Opens the Stripe billing portal, where you switch, cancel or update the card
Moving to Free with no card on file Switches at once: "You are on Free now."
Card payments not connected on this server Records a request for our team. See Request a plan change

The current plan card then shows the new plan with Current plan, and the Current plan section says when it renews, for example "Renews on 1 November 2026. Paid by card through Stripe." Each change is written to the audit log.

Tips

  • Check the meters before moving down mid-month; smaller limits apply straight away.
  • Yearly billing saves two months if you know the plan fits.
  • If you run several stores, upgrade only the workspaces that need it.

Troubleshooting

"Only owners and admins can change the plan"

Agents and viewers see the plans but the buttons are off. Ask an owner or admin.

"You are already on Growth"

You picked the plan you already have. Nothing changed.

"Payments are not answering right now. Try again in a minute."

Hushdesk could not reach Stripe. Nothing was charged. Wait a minute and try again.

"Yearly billing is not available for this plan yet. Pick monthly."

Switch the toggle to Monthly and choose the plan again.

"Pick a plan"

The request did not include a plan. Refresh the page and press the plan's button again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I upgrade my Hushdesk plan?

Open Settings, Plan and billing, choose Monthly or Yearly, and press Upgrade to on the plan you want. You go to a secure Stripe Checkout page to pay by card. When Stripe confirms the payment, usually within seconds, the new plan and its higher limits are active.

How do I downgrade to a smaller plan?

Press Move to on the smaller plan, then press Confirm to move. Smaller limits apply from that moment. If you already pay by card, Hushdesk opens the Stripe billing portal instead, where you pick the new plan. Moving from a paid plan to Free is done by cancelling in the portal.

Can I pay for Hushdesk yearly?

Yes. Switch the toggle above the plan cards to Yearly, 2 months free. You pay for ten months and get twelve, so Starter is $24.17 a month billed yearly. If a plan cannot be billed yearly on your server yet, Hushdesk says so and asks you to pick monthly.

Can I use a promotion code?

Yes. Stripe Checkout has a field for a promotion code when you start a new paid plan. Enter it there before you pay, and Stripe applies the discount to your subscription. Codes cannot be added on the Hushdesk billing page itself, only at checkout.

Is my card stored by Hushdesk?

No. Card details are entered on Stripe's pages, and Stripe stores them. Hushdesk keeps only a reference to your Stripe customer so it can open the billing portal for you. Payments, cards and invoices are all handled by Stripe.

What if a teammate already used more than the smaller plan includes?

Hushdesk warns you in a message before the change applies: nothing is deleted, but new conversations and AI answers pause until next month. You can still go ahead, or pick a plan with higher limits. The usage of the current month carries over to the new plan.
