Setting up an AI agent well takes good material: macros, rules and clear policies. The AI Setup Wizard will create a sensible starting set of views, tags, macros and rules for your kind of business in a few minutes, for you to review and adjust.
The AI Setup Wizard is not built yet. Templates for several business types are being prepared. There is no wizard screen in Hushdesk today. Until it ships, follow the manual steps below.
Before you start
- Who can do this: owners and admins.
- Plan: all plans.
- What you need today: your most common customer questions and your policies for delivery, returns and refunds.
Step by step
Set up the same foundations by hand today:
- Macros. Write your ten most common answers in Workflows > Macros. The AI treats them as approved wording. See Create and manage macros.
- Rules. Add rules that tag common topics, such as "where is my order", so views and reports work. See Create a rule.
- House rules. On the AI Agent page, write one policy per line, such as "UK returns are free within 30 days".
- Help articles. Describe delivery and returns in your help articles; the AI reads matching articles.
- Copilot first. Turn the AI agent on in Copilot and read its drafts for a week.
What happens next
When the wizard ships, it will:
- ask what you sell and how you handle common requests;
- suggest views, tags, macros, rules, SLA targets and the topics the AI may handle, from a template for your business type;
- let you review and accept each suggestion before anything is added.
Template groups being prepared
| Group | Templates |
|---|---|
| Retail | Fashion & apparel, Beauty & skincare, Home & furniture, Electronics & gadgets, Pets |
| Food & wellbeing | Food & drink, Health & supplements |
| Subscriptions & digital | Subscriptions & boxes, Digital products |
| Services & experiences | Services & bookings, Travel & experiences, Education & courses |
| Business & software | B2B & wholesale, SaaS & software |
| General | General store |
What a template contains
Each template is a starter kit. For example, Fashion & apparel includes views such as "Size & fit questions" and "Returns & exchanges", tags such as Sizing, Exchange and Damaged, and macros such as "Sizing advice" and "Damaged item: ask for photos", each using variables like the customer's first name and the order number.
Tips
- Start with fewer, better macros. Ten good ones beat fifty half-finished ones.
- Name macros by topic so they are easy to find and suggest.
- Revisit your house rules after reading a week of Copilot drafts.
Frequently asked questions
What will the AI Setup Wizard do?
It will ask a few questions about your business, such as what you sell and your main policies, then suggest starting views, tags, macros, rules, SLA targets and AI topics from ready-made templates. You review everything before it is added, so the AI agent has good material from the first day.
Is the AI Setup Wizard available now?
Not yet. Templates for several kinds of business are being prepared, covering retail, food and wellbeing, subscriptions and digital, services and experiences, business and software, and a general store, but there is no wizard screen in the product today. This page will become a setup guide when it ships.
How can I set up the AI agent well without the wizard?
Write your ten most common answers as macros, add house rules for your key policies on the AI Agent page, publish a few help articles about delivery and returns, then turn the AI agent on in Copilot and read its drafts for a week before using Autopilot.
Will the wizard change my existing macros and rules?
The plan is that it only suggests additions, which you review and accept one by one, and never overwrites what you already have. Existing macros, rules and settings stay as they are unless you choose to replace them, so it is safe to run on a workspace that is already in use.
Which kinds of business will the templates cover?
Six groups. Retail, Food and wellbeing, Subscriptions and digital, Services and experiences, Business and software, and General. Each holds templates such as Fashion and apparel or Digital products. Pick the closest one, then adjust the suggestions to your own policies and wording.
