Filter reports and compare periods
Set a date range or custom range, filter any report by channel, agent, team and tag, and read the change against the previous period of the same length.
Last updated 2 min read
Every report shares the same filters: a date range first, then channel, agent, team and tag. Set them once and read any report for exactly the slice you care about.
Before you start
- Who can do this: everyone.
- Plan: all plans.
Step by step
- Open any report except the live overview.
- Press the date button and pick Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days.
- For other dates, pick Custom range… and set From and To.
- Use the filters in the Report filters row:
- Channel (All channels, Email, Chat, …);
- Agent (All agents or a person);
- Team (All teams or a team), when you have teams;
- Tag (All tags or a tag).
- Read the numbers and their change against the previous period.
What happens next
Everything on the page follows the filters. Changing them updates the address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered report with a teammate.
How comparisons work
| You pick | Compared with |
|---|---|
| Today | Yesterday |
| Last 7 days | The 7 days before |
| Last 30 days | The 30 days before |
| A custom range | The same number of days just before it |
Changes are shown only when Hushdesk has data for the whole previous period, so a brand-new workspace shows no change at first. Insight reports (Tags, Ticket fields, Macros, Intents) then add Previous and Change columns.
Good filter combinations
| Question | Filters |
|---|---|
| How fast do we answer chats? | Channel Chat, Last 7 days, Overview |
| How is the Returns team doing? | Team Returns, Last 30 days, Agents |
| Are refunds rising? | Tag refund, Last 90 days, Overview |
Tips
- Use the same range every time you check, such as Last 7 days on Mondays, so trends are comparable.
- Filter by Tag to see the speed and satisfaction of one topic.
- Bookmark the filtered reports you use most.
- When sharing a number, say which range and filters it came from, such as "chat, last 30 days", so nobody compares different slices by mistake.
Troubleshooting
Numbers look off by a day
Days follow the workspace time zone from Settings > Business hours, not your computer's.
The report is empty after filtering
The combination matched nothing. Remove one filter at a time.
No change is shown
There is not enough history for the previous period yet. Try a shorter range.
Frequently asked questions
Which date ranges can I choose in Analytics?
Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days and Last 90 days, or Custom range for any From and To dates. Days start and end at midnight in your workspace's time zone. Last 7 days includes today, so it covers the current day and the six before it.
How does Hushdesk compare with the previous period?
It compares against the period of the same length just before the one you chose. For Last 7 days, that is the seven days before. Numbers show the change as up or down, and insight reports add Previous and Change columns to their tables.
Do filters apply to every part of a report?
Yes. The date range and the Channel, Agent, Team and Tag filters scope everything on the page, from the headline numbers to the charts and tables, and the CSV export uses the same filters as the page you downloaded it from.
Can I combine several filters?
Yes. For example, Channel Chat, Team Returns and Last 30 days together show only chat tickets for the Returns team in the last month. Each filter narrows the result further. Choose All for a filter to remove it again.
Why is the Team filter missing?
It appears only when your workspace has teams. Create teams under Settings, Teams, then the Team filter shows on every report so you can compare groups such as Returns and Wholesale. Choose All teams to see the whole workspace again.
